The downtown boom continues with the opening of Grayson Social inside LTV Tower. As a downtown resident and an advocate for the rapid expansion of downtown, I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Grayson Social to the neighborhood.
Grayson Social is a restaurant and social club that serves tall drinks and fresh, Southern fare that’s familiar, but exciting. Created with diversity in mind, Grayson Social embodies the casual yet cosmopolitan Downtown Dallas area and is the perfect spot for a business lunch, happy hour, or dinner. It’s also perfect for meetings and events with it’s private dining space. Oh, and it’s perfect for patio season with their expansive patio overlooking Elm street – right in the heart of downtown!
I’m a sucker for a good finish out, and the southern chic design of Grayson Social is no exception. As you enter, you’re instantly transported to a place full of whimsical, old-world charm. The interior pairs crisp white marble tabletops and natural wood floors with a cool palette of grays and blues, giving the space a warm and contemporary vibe. Comfortable tufted seating conveys a living room feel that encourages extended mixing-and- mingling, while a playful ancestor-themed gallery wall highlights legendary Texans that greet the guests as they enter. An upstairs, members-only sitting room is available by reservation, and is outfitted with sofas, rocking chairs, a flat screen television and free Wi-Fi.
As if the space wasn’t enough to get you to make a reservation, the food will send you over the edge! During last night’s tasting, I got to sample their authentic Southern biscuits, fried chicken medallions, homemade jelly, and specialty butters! I always say that if you’re going to play with a classic (like a biscuit), you have to have a perfect base to build on and the Buttermilk Biscuits were just that. Fluffy and light with a crisp buttery top, they take this biscuit and add their own spin of cranberries and goat’s milk, or any number of seasonal combinations! Maybe Chicken Fried Quail and Waffles, served with chattily cream, white gravy, maple syrup and seasonal berries is more your speed. I’m already planning my return for Pulled Chicken Poutine, made of hand cut fries, pepper gravy and pimento cheese…..I mean….this place could be dangerous for my waistline being so close to my building!
Finally, their bar game is strong featuring Texan renditions of classic American cocktails and offers plenty of craft beer and wine selections! My favorite of the night was, surprisingly, the Beef & Bourbon made with bourbon, maple syrup, myrrh, cypress, house cured beef jerky and honey! I’m not a fan of beef jerky – but this changed my mind for the better! Other offerings include the Purple Lady with vodka, pomegranate, and vanilla syrup, or Cucumber Gin Fizz with fresh lime, house made basil syrup, pomegranate, cucumber, basil leaves and soda.
Is it time for biscuits and bourbon, yet??
